Nellie Tiyago
After graduating from the University of Pretoria, Nellie joined Scanlen and Holderness as an associate in January 2004. In July 2008 she became the third female to be appointed as partner since the inception of Scanlen and Holderness.
Over the years she has specialized in Corporate and Commercial law. The main areas that she has been practicing being Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, Projects, Energy , Mining, Aviation , Competition and Anti Trust, Data Protection, Trade and Investment and Intellectual Property, Estate / Financial Planning. The attendances have included regulatory advice, regulatory compliance, registration of entities, registration of specialty partnerships, due diligence, drafting and negotiating
commercial contracts, commercial litigation
Nellie is registered as a Legal Practitioner in Zimbabwe. She is also a conveyancer and Estate Administrator registered with the Estate Administration Council of Zimbabwe . Her professional memberships are with the Law Society of Zimbabwe, International Trade Council and International Bar Association.
Nellie has served on many boards and is presently a Non-Executive Board Member of Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe (listed), Stanbic Nominees, MMC Stockbrokers P/L and Radar Holdings Limited (listed). She also serves as a member of the Zimbabwe-Australia Business
Council.
To give back to the profession, Nellie has been called upon to assist with Sports Law related matters. This has seen her appointed by Region 5 – Africa Athletics in order to re-draft the regions’ constitution. She has also been part of the Electoral Committee for Region 5 and in 2023 she was part of the special Electoral Committee set up to assist in Malawi during their own electoral process.
