TANAKA KACHARA

Tanaka is a Senior Associate in the firm. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree obtained from the University of Zimbabwe. In addition to being a registered legal practitioner with the Superior Courts of Zimbabwe, she is also a registered conveyancer and notary public.

Tanaka specializes in intellectual property law including the registration and renewal of trademarks, patents, industrial designs, utility models and enforcement of intellectual property rights including infringement litigation. She works with various local and international clients on the protection of intellectual property in Zimbabwe and the African Regional Intellectual Property Office (ARIPO).  

On an international scale, Tanaka is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and currently serves on the Young Practitioners Committee. She also sits on the council of the Zimbabwe Institute of Patents and Trademarks Attorneys.

Tanaka has written a series of articles on intellectual property law. She is an enthusiast in the promotion, protection and realization of economic rights as human rights. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, swimming and travelling.
